Human Rights: From Conflict to Transitional Justice
Professor Louise Mallinder will today address an audience at St Mary’s University College Belfast as part of a week-long programme to mark Human Rights Day.
Around the world this date is used by civil society groups to raise awareness of how human rights improves the lives of individuals and the functioning of states, to highlight human rights challenges being locally and internationally, and to draw lessons from the experiences of human rights defenders around the world.
Drawing on field research conducted as part of the Lawyers in Conflict & Transition project, Louise will reflect on human rights in situations of conflict and transitional justice.
Themes will include: human rights, revolution and conflict resolution; human rights, cultural relativism, and the transition; and law, politics and transition.
